It has not been long since Nokia announced that its HERE mapping service will soon be available for Android. Even though its devices and services business was sold to Microsoft, Nokia has retained the mapping division and even now it is under the control and ownership of the Finnish company. Nokia had said that HERE would come to Android through select partners, with Samsung being the first one. However the Nokia HERE for Android apk has leaked online and it can be installed on almost any Android device.
Since its a leaked apk if you’re thinking of running it on your Android device, even if its a Samsung, you’ll have to sideload the app on your device. When the official version does come out it will either be available through the Samsung Galaxy Apps store on via the Google Play Store with compatibility limited to Samsung’s devices.
The leaked Nokia HERE for Android app has the core functions that one would want from a mapping application, such as turn-by-turn navigation as well as a satellite map layer. It also allows users to download cached maps of entire cities which can then be used for offline navigation. To use the app one either needs to sign up for a HERE account for use Facebook to log in.
The Nokia HERE for Android apk is available for download from here. It can be installed on any device that’s powered by Android 4.0 or higher.
