That being said, it seems that the older generation is starting to catch on to digital videos. This is according to a recent report from Nielsen where it was revealed that the amount of time the older generation (categorized as being aged between 50 to 64 years old) jumped from an average of 11 minutes a day in 2013 to an average of 19 minutes a day in the second quarter of 2014.
Nielsen also found that the time adults spent in the front of the TV had declined by 2%, and that consuming digital content on computer or mobile devices has increased by 4% and is growing fast, especially amongst adults aged 35 and older.
According to Dounia Turrill, the senior vice president for insights at Nielsen, “The overarching data suggests that the growth of media consumption is and will continue to be in digital for all consumers. We can surmise that having tasted the freedom of choice, the American consumer will not go back to old ways.”
