Netflix Planning Shorter Video Clips Designed To Be Watched On The Go

While Netflix has a mobile app of their own, let’s face it, watching movies or longer TV shows just isn’t that fun on a tiny smartphone screen – those kinds of activities would probably be better enjoyed on devices like a computer monitor or a larger television screen. Now according to a report from Gigaom, Netflix is apparently looking to start offering shorter clips that have been designed to be watched while on the go.

The report claims that this is a feature that Netflix has been testing for a while and will debut as a new section on its mobile app called “Have Five Minutes?” It will basically feature video clips that are around 2-5 minutes in length which Netflix is expected to pull from its huge library of videos.

According to Netflix’s design manager, Dantley Davis, this is a feature that has been tested and has seen very positive results, and if things continue to go the way they do, it is expected that the feature will be rolled out to all of Netflix’s mobile app users in the coming months. We’re not sure what kind of clips Netflix is talking about, but presumably it could be clips that highlight the best scenes in movies, outtakes, standup comedy routines, and etc.

Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information regarding its release, but in the meantime what do you guys make of the upcoming feature?
