Microsoft Set To Fire 2,100 Employees Today

It was a couple of days ago when we reported that the second round of Microsoft layoffs were about to be set in motion, and here we are with word that Microsoft will be letting 2,100 workers go today. This is part of the original plan which was announced in July earlier this year, where there was the intention to make 18,000 people in their respective positions redundant, in an effort to make the workforce more efficient while integrating the acquisition of the Nokia handset unit.

It is said that this streamlining process will happen across the company throughout the different divisions, at least according to a spokesman from Microsoft who is known as Peter Wootton. In the Puget Sound region where Microsoft is currently based, there will be 747 people who will lose their bread and butter.

New Microsoft CEO Nadella has been rather aggressive in his corporate moves ever since he was appointed to the position earlier this February. In fact, Nadella has shuffled the top management and intends to ensure that Microsoft’s software becomes available to a slew of devices, while announcing job cuts in the process. Hopefully those who were let go would be able to find a soft landing elsewhere in their new jobs, and fast!
