If there’s one thing that Nokia is good at, it would be releasing smartphones with pretty impressive cameras attached to them, much like the Nokia Lumia 1020 of 2013 which came with a whopping 41MP PureView camera. However ever since the Lumia 1020’s release, we have yet to see similar efforts from Nokia this year.
Well the good news is that if you were looking forward to more of these types of phones from Microsoft (who is Nokia’s new owner), you might be pleased to learn that Microsoft has plans for similar smartphones in the future. Speaking to the folks at TechRadar, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President of the Phone Business Unit, Jo Harlow, confirmed that similar phones are part of the company’s future.
When asked if a similar phone like the Lumia 1020 could be released in the future, Harlow was quoted as saying, “Absolutely – we’re not end of the mission in camera technology, or in computational photography. We continue to invest in that area to bring the next greatest thing in high end imaging.”
Unfortunately Harlow did not mention when exactly would such a device be announced, but hopefully we will see something announced by the end of the year. In the meantime what do you guys think? Are you looking forward to more devices like the Lumia 1020?
