Now it seems that Microsoft has decided to be pretty generous and according to a recent tweet by their @Messenger account, it seems that they are planning to retire that Twitter account and pass the @Messenger handle over to the good folks at Facebook instead, who might have more use for it since they do have a Messenger app of their own.
Microsoft and Facebook have a pretty decent relationship with one another. It was a few years ago that they announced a partnership in which Facebook messages could also be delivered to Skype. This means that users won’t need to have Facebook open in order to chat with their Facebook friends.
In any case the tweet states that the transition will take place on the 30th of September, so if you’re looking to follow Facebook Messenger’s tweets and updates, then you’ll want to take note of the new Twitter handle.
