South Korean consumer electronics giant LG has announced that one of their arms, LG Display, is all set to mass produce what is deemed to be the first circular plastic OLED display in the world. First introduced to the masses in a commercially available product via the LG G Watch R, what one gets would be a perfectly round and ultra slim display that ought to bring about a revolution where design innovations among wearable devices and technology are concerned.
This particular circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display sports cutting edge technology, and it will see action in the LG G Watch R. Sporting a diameter of 1.3”, not only is it perfectly round, it is also ideal for the LG G Watch R to feature a full watch face, all the while promoting an ease of use considering how the screen area measures 57% larger than that of a square display of the same size. In addition, laying claim to be the world’s first P-OLED panel has its perks, too, since it has an ultra slim thinness of under 0.6mm, making it optimized for wearable devices.
With a resolution count of 320 x 320 pixels, LG Display’s breakthrough display is capable of realizing 100 percent color gamut, 300 nit peak luminance, and unlimited contrast ratio to enhance user satisfaction.
