Lenovo Vibe X2 & Vibe Z2 Announced

VIBE-X2__02 True to Lenovo’s invite, it seems that the company has taken the wraps off a couple of new smartphones at IFA 2014. These phones come in the form of the Lenovo Vibe X2, which we have seen in leaked photos, and the Lenovo Vibe Z2 which Lenovo claims is not only a phone designed to take selfies, but will also be the company’s first 64-bit Android smartphone.

Kicking things off with the Lenovo Vibe X2, this handset will be powered by MediaTek’s 4LG True8Core processor. According to Lenovo, the use of the MediaTek chipset will not only provide a boost of power to the smartphone, but will also go towards helping to conserve battery life.

The Vibe X2 will come with a 5-inch Full HD display, a 13MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera with a wide-angle lens, which should help users fit in more people in group shots. The front-facing camera can also be activated with either a blink of an eye or a smile. The Vibe X2 is also a phone that Lenovo is calling a “layered smartphone” and will support Lenovo’s click-on accessories.

Moving on we have the Lenovo Vibe Z2. This is a phone which Lenovo claims will be great for those who love taking selfies. However in terms of design, Lenovo has given the phone a brushed metal unibody design that helps create the feel of a premium product. Unfortunately its 5.5-inch display is a bit of a disappointment with its 1280×720 resolution.

However under the hood, the Vibe Z2 is no slouch with a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core 64-bit chipset clocked at 1.4GHz. It will come with 32GB of onboard storage, a respectable 3,000mAh battery, and a 13MP rear-facing camera. Its front-facing camera is of the 8MP variety that will sport an anti-distortion lens, and there will also be beautification features thrown into the mix.

The Lenovo Vibe X2 and the Vibe Z2 are expected to be made available in China starting this October. It will then move into other markets such as Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East where they will be priced at $399 and $429 respectively.
