The 13.3” Laptops are often seen as being the “sweet spot” in terms of size, power and weight, but there are cases where a 15” display remains much more comfortable to use. Desktop replacements can be on those, or designers and programmers could use the extra screen size to make their life better. That’s precisely why Lenovo has the Flex 2 also known as Edge 15 in North America.
At 0.78 inches (19.9mm), it is a relatively thin laptop which happens to have a 300-degree display hinge, like the Lenovo Yoga laptops. It doesn’t quite go all the way to “tablet mode”, but you can pull the screen back and have the laptop in a “presentation mode” which puts the screen nearly a foot closer to you. That’s great for watching a movie or reading documents on a plane.
This version of the Lenovo Flex has a new aluminum chassis, a backlit keyboard and Dolby audio software to enhance the music or movie audio. We haven’t seen the complete specifications, but Lenovo claims 8 hours of battery life.
The configuration options can go “up to” Core i7 CPU, NVIDIA GT840M GPU and 16GB of RAM. The largest SSD option is 256GB and opting for a hybrid storage will push it to 1TB. Last but not least, this is an affordable 15” which will ship this month, starting at $699.
