At the moment, most of us have monitors or use monitors that will display Full HD resolution which seems to be more or less the standard these days. However as 4K monitors start becoming more affordable, we can only assume that one day that 4K displays will become the new standard, but it seems that Microsoft could be thinking about taking it one step further.
According to a report from PCPortal.org.ru (via Windows Phone Central), it seems that they have managed to get their hands on a screenshot that suggests that Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 9 will not only support 4K resolutions, but could also support 8K resolutions as well! We can only assume that Microsoft is trying to future-proof its operating system at this point, although we’re not sure if 8K displays will be becoming the new standard anytime soon.
Microsoft will be holding an event on the 30th of September in which they are expected to take the wraps off Windows 9. It will not be released at the event as it has been rumored for Q2-Q3 2015. Instead Microsoft is expected to release a technical preview a few days after the event. In any case we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information, but in the meantime what do you guys think of the support for 4K and 8K displays? Is Microsoft looking a bit too forward in the latter?
