An Apple spokeswoman has recently gotten in touch with the folks at Cult of Mac and has confirmed that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will sport NFC technology under its hood. This is great news right? After all imagine all the accessories and possibilities that could be unlocked with NFC technology. Unfortunately prepare to be disappointed as it seems that the technology will only be used for Apple Pay.
For now it seems that Apple will be restricting the use of NFC and that it can only be used for Apple Pay. This was similar to when Touch ID was first released on the iPhone 5s and how it was off-limits to developers until iOS 8. It is possible that Apple could open up the NFC chip to developers later on like they did with Touch ID, but for now if you were thinking of all the cool NFC gadgets you could get your hands on, you would be disappointed.
It is possible that Apple could be biding their time and waiting to see how the technology handles in real life with their new iPhones before opening it up to third-party developers, but in the meantime are you disappointed by this?
