Every year when Apple announces a new iPhone, they tend to sell more units than they did the previous year. This hardly comes as a surprise as new iPhones come with new features that customers want, or it is also when customers’ contracts expires and they’re eligible for an upgrade.
So with the iPhone 6 pegged for a release this year, we can only imagine that Apple has prepared themselves for an influx in sales. However it seems that Apple’s estimations have turned out to be so high to the point where the amount of phones being shipped from China, where they are produced and assembled, have caused delays to the shipments of other phones from competing brands/companies.
This is according to a report from TechCrunch who revealed the information they have gotten from their sources. “The company is apparently flooding its channels with devices, causing shipments for other ‘top tier’ device makers to be delayed to make way for Apple products.” Does this sound impossible? Hardly.
A couple of years ago, logistics expert John Martin told Businessweek about the time when Steve Jobs booked up all available holiday air freight space to ship the translucent blue iMacs, which in turn resulted in companies such as Compaq being unable to find available flights themselves.
That being said, this report seems to suggest that Apple is particularly confident about the sales of the iPhone 6, assuming of course the report is true, but what do you guys think? With a larger display, possibly larger battery, improved camera, and new features like mobile payments, is the iPhone 6 the iPhone that everyone has been waiting for?
