When it comes to going green, many different companies out there happen to take the initiative to have some sort of eco-friendly mantra going on, but there are others who take the environment a whole lot more seriously than the rest. Furniture giant IKEA is one of them, and they had already begun to sell solar panels over in the UK not too long ago. In fact, IKEA CEO Peter Agnefjäll has just mentioned that this initiative will be extended to another eight countries in the next one and a half years.
The first of the 8 will be the Netherlands, where they will be on the receiving end of such solar panels this coming October 28th, while those living in Switzerland will have to wait until December – right before Christmas. I am not too sure how the wife will react when she finds her Christmas gift installed on the roof, but when she hears about how it might help lower the monthly electricity bill, perhaps her anger will fade somewhat. Very little else was shared concerning the remaining half dozen locations, but chances are they will be in other European nations.
Why not release these in countries that have strong sunshine all year round, like Singapore and Malaysia? Perhaps local red tape might have something to do with that.
