Could wearables be the next big thing in the tech scene? While it remains to be seen if wearables will catch on like the way smartphones did, there is certainly a lot of interest in it at the moment. We’ve seen many companies come forward with smartwatch and fitness band products of their own, which is why we can’t say we’re too surprised to learn that Huawei could be hopping on board the bandwagon as well.
Speaking to the folks at Engadget, Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu revealed that the Chinese company has plans to release an Android Wear-powered smartwatch in 2015. Huawei has released wearables in the past in the form of the Huawei TalkBand, but like we said, Huawei’s next effort will be powered by Android Wear.
Unfortunately Yu did not reveal too much about the upcoming smartwatch, except that he promise it would be both innovative and beautiful, and when asked what form factor it could take, Yu just stated that it would be more beautiful than Samsung’s recent efforts in the form of the Gear S.
It would be interesting to see if what Huawei will be able to come up with, although they are facing stiff competition from the likes of Samsung, LG, Motorola, ASUS, Sony, and possibly even Apple whose iWatch has also been rumored for a potential release in 2015.
