HomeTube Will Keep Your Kids Away From Questionable YouTube Videos

hometubeYouTube’s videos in general tend to be pretty safe given that Google is constantly policing the website for videos that are unsavory in nature. Granted once a while a video might split past Google’s moderators, but they tend to be taken down pretty fast. That being said, it’s not that safe to the point where parents can let kids surf it without supervision.

Enter HomeTube. HomeTube is an app developed by Chris Lacy and it basically helps to curate YouTube videos which are deemed safe and kid-friendly all in one app. This means that parents can let their kids use the app without worrying that they might stumble upon something meant for adults or something unsavory in nature.

So what’s stopping your kid from launching the normal YouTube app and closing HomeTube? Well HomeTube can be run as either an app or as a launcher, so in the latter mode, it takes over your device so that kids won’t be able to hop to a different app, which we have to admit is pretty clever.

It should be pointed out that HomeTube’s filters are based on video creators categorizing their videos correctly. So if someone wanted to categorize their video as kids-friendly but yet have questionable content, it is possible, so maybe some slight supervision is necessary. In any case the app itself is free for download so if you’d like to learn more or get your hands on it, head on over to Google Play for the download.
