As we’re sure most of you guys know, Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard’s upcoming MOBA that we’re sure they’re hoping will be able to stand up against the likes of Valve’s DotA 2 and Riot’s League of Legends. That being said, the game is currently in its technical alpha, although gamers will be pleased to learn that it is now one step further to a release.
In a blog post on their Battle.net website, Blizzard announced that they are ready to move on to their final phase of the technical alpha. They will begin this by first taking the Heroes of the Store online store offline, and after that they will be wiping everyone’s accounts. The good news is that the money you spent on cosmetics and heroes will not be wasted as they will be refunded.
Gamers who also bought something from the store will be given a Wonder Billie Mount as an exclusive reward. Blizzard will also be making all of the characters in the game free to play for the next one week, so if you have yet to check out all the characters Blizzard has to offer, now’s as good a time as any.
Once that is over, Blizzard will be spending the next week or so in extended maintenance and hopefully launch into its next phase and bring it one step closer to a release. Blizzard has yet to announce an official release date for the game, but with BlizzCon 2014 taking place in a couple of months’ time, perhaps we will learn more then.
