Half Of PC Gamers Wait For Sales Before Buying Games [Survey]

While video games aren’t overly expensive, buying them on a frequent basis can result in you spending a lot of money, which is why gamers tend to look forward to video game sales in which games are discounted and sold cheaply. However the question is, do you tend to wait for video games to go on sale before you buy, or do you buy when you feel like it?

Purchasing a game on discount does make sense, but interestingly enough a survey from the NPD Group (via GamesIndustry) has shown that out of the PC gamers they surveyed, it was found half of them actually purchase games at full price instead of waiting to purchase games when they are being discounted.

However it seems that this only applies to gamers who purchase physical copies of games. The survey found that 46% of PC gamers bought their games digitally last year, and that those who download their games are far less likely to pay full price for their games and will actually wait for price drops before making a purchase.

According to NPD analyst Liam Callahan, “Since half of PC gamers who play digital and/or physical games on the computer are expecting there to always be a sale right around the corner, publishers and retailers alike need to better manage these expectations.” What do you guys make of this survey?
