When it comes to recording action videos, the GoPro seems to be a popular choice amongst the adventurers and the daredevils who have mounted the cameras on their equipment and helmets to help capture their death defying footage. Now if you’re in need for such a camera and wanted to record 4K video, perhaps the upcoming GoPro HERO4 might be of interest to you.
Prior to this, GoPro’s HERO3 could record 4K video, albeit in 15fps which is admittedly not the smoothest framerate around. However with the GoPro HERO4, word has it that it will be able to record 4K video at a smoother framerate of 30fps! Now we should point out that GoPro has yet to make an official announcement, although the leaked information and photos are courtesy of the folks at PetaPixel.
As far as the framerate of the other resolutions are concerned, PetaPixel reports that the Black Edition will capture 2.7K resolution at 50fps, 1440p at 80fps, 1080p/960p/720p at 120fps. It seems that it has been capped at 120fps and they are reporting that it will not go any higher. There will also be Ultra Wide, Medium, and Narrow settings for the lens, manual controls for ISO, exposure, and color, along with built-in WiFi and Bluetooth.
As for the Silver edition, 4K video will be captured at 15fps, 2.7K at 30fps, 1440p at 48fps, 1080p at 60fps, 960p at 100fps, and 720p at 120fps. It will also be able to capture 12MP photos at 30fps and will also sport a touchscreen display. Pricing remains unknown but if the rumors are to be believed, the GoPro HERO4 will launch on the 8th of October, so do check back with us then for the details.
