Now wouldn’t it be more awesome if you could mute it just by pressing that icon? Well according to a post by Peter Kasting, it seems that many Chrome users had mistaken the icon as a mute button and now it looks like Google could be working on incorporating that feature. It has been given an experimental flag on the Chromium page, but as Kasting notes, it might not have made its way into the Canary build yet.
As we said earlier, being able to mute it directly by pressing the icon would come in handy as it would allow users to quickly mute audio/video without having to scan the page for the pause/stop button. Kasting has also stated that there is no guarantee that the feature will be released for the stable version of Chrome either, but hopefully if it gets enough attention and coverage, maybe it will, but what say you? Is this a feature you’d like to see Google bring to Chrome in the future?
