While Chromebooks are undoubtedly cheap and affordable, we can only assume that the reason why people are a bit hesitant in adopting Chromebooks and the Chrome OS is because it isn’t as fully functional compared to platforms like Windows or OS X. It’s great if you’re just looking to use a computer to check emails, surf the web, create spreadsheets and documents.
However if you wanted something more, like playing games, editing music, and so on, then you should probably be looking elsewhere. That being said, Google has recently launched a Chromebook tour in which they are taking the Chromebook and Chrome OS to various colleges across the US in hopes that they will be able to convince students that Chromebooks are the way to go.
In fact Google has also created a Chromebook Lending Library in which college students will be able to check out a Chromebook where they will be able to explore its uses and functionality and also check out various apps, and all for free! Students will be allowed to keep the Chromebooks as long as they are on campus, which according to Google’s tour schedule should be for a few days.
It’s an interesting initiative and we have to admit that the price is one of the more attractive features of the Chromebook lineup. If you’re a college student and you’re looking for a new laptop, perhaps you’ll want to keep an eye out for the Google Chromebook tour so that you will be able to take the laptop for a spin yourself.
