Given that technology has advanced significantly over the past few years we have seen considerable changes in many sectors. Mobile devices like tablets have infiltrated the education sector and developers have come up with applications that are meant to help students in their quest for knowledge. Cloud storage companies have targeted students as well and Google raised the bar today with Drive for Education. Supporting individual files up to 5TB Google Drive for Education brings unlimited cloud storage for students.
Google Drive has been available for a little over two years. Google says that it is now used as a sharing solution by more than 190 million people around the world with as many as 30 million students and teachers using Google Apps for Education.
After launching a premium version of Google Apps for Work the company is now bringing the same idea over to students. Drive for Education will be available for all Google Apps for Education users at no additional cost and will bring unlimited cloud storage, enhanced auditing tools as well as an API for seeing activity of a file, and Google Apps Vault which is a search and discovery solution for compliance needs, it will be available by the end of this year.
Google reiterates the security features and points out that all files uploaded to Drive are encrypted not only between device and services but also when they’re at rest on Google servers.
