In April at the BUILD conference this year, Flipboard for Windows Phone was spotted, although there was nothing official about it. Having said that, it seems that Flipboard has, at long last, ensured that its official first-party application today will be made available at no cost at all to those who happen to spend their time in the Windows Phone store.
Just in case you were wondering what makes Flipboard so interesting, this happens to be a news aggregate app which is capable of actually bringing together your social network feeds alongside specific news topics from different publications throughout the world. As for “flip” bit in its name, this is because you need to perform a flipping motion to go to the next bit of your news feed, just like how you would do with an IKEA BookBook.
Right now the release is not the final build, so do not express any form of surprise whatsoever if you so happen to come across some bugs as this is far from the finished article just yet. This must come across as a sigh of relief to Windows Phone users, considering how Flipboard has already been rocking on other mobile platforms such as iOS and Android for quite some time already. Ah well, better late than never, right?
