There is nothing quite like having a little bit of technology to back you up when you are about to embark on an adventure or scientific quest, right? A bunch of marine archaeologists recently got involved in a mission to explore an old shipwreck that is located at the bottom (where else would it be, really) of the Aegean Sea. This exploration expedition will be conducted using an Exosuit that you see above, instead of a submarine or an equivalent vessel that most people would think of in the first place.
The Exosuit is a semi-robotic metal diving suit which will tip the scales at 530lbs., and has the capability of dropping all the way down to 1,000 feet. Not only that, the Exosuit enables the diver to remain underwater for hours on end, all without having to place the diver’s life at risk when it comes to decompression sickness.
With the Exosuit, an archaeologist will be able to go about doing his or her job with one less thing to worry about, and along the way it might help unearth artifacts that will assist scholars in picking up additional details concerning the ship, and perhaps the why and how of its sinking. You can follow the adventures of the Exosuit here if you are interested.
