Destiny is Bungie’s latest game and given the success they had with the Halo franchise and with Activision pumping a whopping $500 million into the game, we can only imagine that many gamers have eagerly anticipated it. So far it seems to have worked as Destiny has managed to top the charts and in turn helped to drive PlayStation 4 sales as well.
Well according to the reports, it looks like Destiny’s success is still continuing as the game has managed to rank number one again for the second week in the row, at least as far as the Top 20 UK charts are concerned. However it has also been noted that sales of the game have since dropped by 78%.
While 78% does sound alarming, it should be pointed out that this is normal as far as big releases are concerned. After all most gamers tend to rush out to buy the game upon its release due to the hype that has been generated, so the sales that typically follow would be more indicative of how the game would sell normally.
Coming in at second place would be Disney’s Disney Infinite 2.0, and in third would be the Nintendo Wii U’s Hyrule Warriors. Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs’ position in fourth place seems to be in line with earlier reports that Destiny has managed to overtake the game as the UK’s largest new IP launch. So what do you guys think? How long will Bungie’s Destiny be able to hold onto its number one position?
