Dell looks as though they might have yet another device or accessory that is being primed for a release, this coming after rolling out a couple of Inspiron notebooks along the way. I am referring to the Dell Cast Adapter, which is a wireless display adapter that has shown itself over at the FCC earlier this week. Details concerning this particular device remains scarce, as the label drawing is not all that clear since it looks as though the adapter happens to be a stick that one would simply plug into the HDMI port of a TV or monitor.
Chances are, one will be able to make use of the Dell Cast Adapter to stream content from a tablet, notebook, or any other compatible device over to the TV, and who knows, it might also be a device which would enable one to actually boot up apps on a TV, which would then add another layer of functionality to an ordinary TV by transforming it into a pseudo-smart TV.
There is also a recent Wi-Fi certification document where the Dell Cast Adapter is touted to support dual-band Wi-Fi, all the while having Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat as the mobile operating system of choice, in addition to Bluetooth support. Is this going to be a rival to the Google Chromecast? Only time will tell, so stay tuned!
