Now that Apple has released iOS 8 for all supported iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models developers have got down to the business of updating their apps so that they can take advantage of everything the new iteration of iOS has to offer. One of the most popular browsers has been updated with iOS 8 and now it includes support for a major new feature called Extensibility which allows apps to proverbially talk to each other in the system.
Extensibility is a new feature in iOS 8 and it allows third party applications installed on the device to share content and files directly with each other. This is done through app extensions which allow developers to extend custom functionality and content beyond their applications, and allow users to access it even if they’re using any other application.
In the case of Chrome for iOS 8 this means that users will now be able to share content they find in the browser with other third party apps installed on the device. The content could be a file, photo, video. Possibilities are endless.
Apart from support for Extensibility the latest Chrome update for iOS 8 also brings with it the usual slew of bug fixes and performance improvements. It is available as a free download from the App Store.
