However at the same time we understand there are photographers who need the larger megapixels because they are planning to use them to print, or if they are planning to crop photos and don’t want to lose too much detail in the process. Well the good news is that if you’re a Canon fan, it looks like higher resolutions are in the works.
This is according to an interview that the folks at DPReview had with Masaya Maeda, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Image Communications Products Operations at Canon. According to Maeda, “We know that many of our customers need more resolution and this is under consideration.”
He also revealed that Canon had a new mirrorless camera in the works that they will be revealing soon. “In the very near future you can expect us to show something in terms of mirrorless and also a higher resolution sensor.” As it stands the Canon EOS 5D MK III has the highest megapixel count amongst Canon’s DSLR cameras at 22MP.
