So later today, it is expected that BlackBerry will officially take the wraps off the BlackBerry Porshe Design P’9983, the phone which is BlackBerry’s latest collaboration with the folks over at Porsche. So far we’ve seen leaked renderings, leaked photos, and if you’re a little sick of the leaked stuff, you might be pleased to learn that BlackBerry has since unveiled an official rendering of the handset.
This was revealed on BlackBerry’s website where the company also dived into what went into the design process of the handset. Now as you can see, the handset looks pretty damn sleek, although given BlackBerry and Porsche Design’s collaborative efforts in the past, it will most likely not come cheap.
According to Roland Heiler, the Managing Director of the Porsche Design Studio, “As with so many other products, smartphone designers tend to try too hard to put in too much design in order to distinguish themselves from each other. That makes the visual life of these items very short. They age very quickly. Porsche Design’s philosophy is to design things so that they last over time.”
Like we said, the phone is pretty sleek and you can check out Heiler’s full interview on BlackBerry’s website. We expect that pricing and availability will be announced later today, so do check back with us at a later date for the details.
