BlackBerry Passport To Cost $599 Unlocked

Well, it looks as though after a fair number of rumors have surrounding the BlackBerry Passport, here we are with word from the horse’s mouth – BlackBerry CEO John Chen himself, that the upcoming BlackBerry Passport will hit the market later this Wednesday, where it will carry a $599 price tag for an unlocked handset – which means there will be no subsidies at all, what you pay is what you get.

According to Chen, BlackBerry is the generous party here, as flagship models from different smartphone manufacturers happen to retail in the region of $700 thereabouts. It does look as though BlackBerry intends to drum up interest in the BlackBerry Passport among the masses, so they will sell the handset for a Benjamin less – although with the kind of reputation that BlackBerry has had for a fair number of years already, this slightly lower price point is not going to do much at all.

Regardless, this is not to detract from the fact that the BlackBerry Passport is quite an interesting smartphone, starting with its 4.5” square display that carries a resolution count of 1,440 x 1,440 pixels, alongside a pixel density of 453ppi. Apart from that, it will run on a quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, has 3GB RAM and sports a 13MP shooter at the back alongside a 2MP camera in front.
