So we know that an Assassin’s Creed movie is in the works. In fact it was in 2012 that it was revealed that actor Michael Fassbender (of Inglourious Basterds and X-Men fame) would be starring in it. A report from last year had revealed the movie had been delayed to 2015 and given that we’re almost at the end of 2014, it shouldn’t be too long until we see it, right?
Unfortunately it looks like Assassin’s Creed fans will have to wait one more year. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, inside sources of Fox have revealed to them that the movie has been pushed back once again and will now only debut in 2016. This is apparently due to script rewrites as well as scheduling issues during production.
It was not mentioned as to when exactly in 2016 we might expect the movie, so we guess we will just have to wait and hope that we will hear more official details in the near future. It will also be interesting to see how well the Assassin’s Creed movie will turn out. For those who have watched their fair share of video games-cum-movies, you guys know that this is usually something of a disaster.
There have been one or two movies that turned out relatively decent, but for the most part they have been disappointing. Given the size and popularity of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, here’s hoping that the alleged script rewrites are for the better and that the studio will not be letting fans down.
