Apple Watch Will Cater To Lefties With Interface Orientation Choices

Earlier today Apple took the wraps off the Apple Watch, the Cupertino company’s first foray into the modern wearables scene. We have to admit that the device looks good and Apple did bring up a good point about how our fingers would obscure the screen, thus the need for an innovation like the digital crown which allows users to scroll and zoom in without their fingers getting in the way of the display.

It’s a good idea, but unfortunately it seems like the watch could have been designed for right-handers in mind. Left-handers tend to wear their watches on their right hand so that it doesn’t get in the way when they right, but unfortunately this places the digital crown in an awkward place where it would be hard to access.

The good news is that according to reports, Apple has thought about this and users will be able to choose which orientation they want the watch’s interface to be when starting the device up for the first time, so that they will be free to wear the watch on their right hand with the digital crown facing outwards.

Of course this also means that the crown will now be on the bottom of the watch instead of on the top, but we guess this is just something that left-handers will have to get used to. The Apple Watch is priced starting at $349 and is expected to begin shipping in early 2015.
