Not only has Apple released iOS 8 today for all supported devices it has also rolled out a new software update for the third generation Apple TV. The set-top box has received several updates over the past few months and most of them have brought new content sources for the device. Today is no different. Beats Music now lands on the Apple TV courtesy of today’s update.
It was inevitable for Beats Music to ultimately become a content source in the Apple TV. The company has acquired Beats and now owns its hardware business as well as its music streaming service, when compliments iTunes Radio across all of Apple’s products.
The software update also brings some minor user interface tweaks which include flatter icons and thinner text that bring the entire UI in line with iOS. Family Sharing support has also been added to Apple TV with this update. This feature lets users connect multiple Apple IDs to one single credit card for purchases so an entire family can share content without having to purchase it individually using different credit cards.
Another addition which ties up with a new iOS 8 feature is iCloud Photo Library support, which has been added to the Apple TV as well. The software update for Apple’s set-top box is rolling out over the air and can be downloaded and installed straight through the device itself.
