It seems that while Apple was busy announcing its new iPhones and its smartwatch, they also did a little cleanup of their own in which they removed the iPod Classic from the Apple Store. The Store was down during Apple’s announcements earlier today, but when it came back online, it was spotted that the iPod Classic was no longer listed.
The iPod Classic was launched in 2007 and we guess it’s hardly comes as a surprise to think that it could be due for retirement. What this means is that if you had your eye on an iPod Classic, you won’t be able to find it online anymore via Apple’s online store. Instead you could try your luck at an physical Apple retail store, or maybe other venues like eBay and so on.
In fact earlier this year, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook might have hinted at the iPod Classic’s demise when he was quoted as saying that the iPod is a declining business. Given how our phones and tablets do a great job at storing music, it makes sense that customers might not want or need a dedicated device. In any case are you a little bummed to see the iPod Classic go?
