Recently there has been chatter about the upcoming Android Wear updates. Multiples theories have been floated regarding features and improvements that will be included in this update. Google has now come out to set the record straight and detail exactly what the next Android Wear updates are going to bring. Many major OEMs have already created wearable products that are running on this relatively new platform for wearable devices.

The first major update for Android Wear will bring support for offline music playback and GPS. This will allow users to leave their phones behind and take part in activities like biking or running while still be able to listen to music via Bluetooth headphones. If the smartwatch includes a GPS sensor users will also be able to track their speed and distance straight from the device.

The second update for Android Wear will add support for downloadable watch faces, allowing users to customize the watch’s home screen as they see fit. Watch faces will be created by independent developers so there won’t be any shortage as far as choices are concerned.

Moreover, Google will continue to work with manufacturers in order to bring more watch options in different shapes, stylers and equipped with different sensors. The Moto 360, Asus Zen Watch, LG G Watch R and the Sony SmartWatch 3 are the new additions to Android Wear’s arsenal.
