We reported day before yesterday that Google is working on multiple new updates for Android Wear that it intends to release before the end of this year. Since Google retains total control over this new platform it would be easier for the company to push out updates for all Android Wear powered devices as opposed to conventional Android smartphones and tablets, where OEMs and carriers often tend to delay things. Rumor has it that the next major Android Wear update is set to arrive next month.
October 15th is the date that AndroidPolice has heard from an unnamed source. The scribe feels this source is very credible and is confident in its claims, however it does not publish any direct evidence to support this claim.
As far as what’s new in the next major Android Wear update well one can expect a handful of bug fixes, performance and stability improvements. There might be some new features as well but they haven’t been detailed as yet. It has also been rumored that support for Bluetooth headphones and GPS will be added to Android Wear.
Whenever the update is released it will arrive over-the-air, we’ll keep an eye out in the meantime. Google has not yet confirmed exactly when it plans to release the next major update for Android Wear, the platform that it has built specifically for wearable devices.
