A few months back Amazon unveiled its set-top box that had been rumored many times before its announcement. The Fire TV has since been available for sale in the U.S. Initially Amazon only released the set-top box on its home turf. It has waited for quite some time before launching it in other markets. Today the company confirmed that Fire TV will now be sold in Europe, starting off with two major countries.
Many announcements have come in today from Berlin on the eve of IFA 2014 trade show. Amazon held its own press event, which was a lot intimate as opposed to the Samsung and Sony shindigs, where it confirmed that Fire TV will now be available for pre-order in Germany and the UK.
Customers who are interested in purchasing Amazon’s set-top box can do so via Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de. The Fire TV will offer features that are available on its U.S. counterpart however there will be some minor differences due to regional Amazon Prime Instant sites and local content partners.
In the UK, Amazon Fire TV is going to cost £79 and even though its available for pre-order right now the set-top box will start shipping on October 23rd. Major retailers in the country which include Dixons and Tesco will also sell the Amazon Fire TV.
