5.5-inch iPhone 6 Camera Module With OIS Surfaces [Rumor]
Back in the day, having a camera on your phone could be reason enough to purchase a particular brand/model, but these days with cameras becoming a standard feature, OEMs have to differentiate themselves with different camera features, such as better low-light performance, wider lens, wider apertures, better optics, and etc.
Well according to the rumors, Apple could finally be introducing optical image stabilization with the iPhone 6 and now thanks to recent photos from the folks at Feld & Volk (via MacRumors), the alleged iPhone 6’s camera component has surfaced. As you can see in the image above, the component to the left is said to belong to the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 model.
It is obvious at a glance that it is different from the iPhone 5s’ component pictured to the right. Feld & Volk claims that the design of the module leaves some room for the lens to “float”, thus confirming speculation that we can look forward to optical image stabilization. The lens portion also protrudes a little which also seems to be in line with leaked photos that revealed a protruding camera on the iPhone 6.
We’re not sure if the same features will be offered in the 4.7-inch model, but Feld & Volk claims that this particular component does not fit into the 4.7-inch’s rear shell, so either the 4.7-inch model will skip on the feature, or it could be a smaller module instead. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but do check back with us on the 9th of September for the details.
