Now thanks to a recent tweet by LlabTooFeR, who has provided reliable HTC information in the past, it seems that the M8_EYE will come with a 13MP Duo camera, Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and will also come with HTC’s Sense 6.0 UI on top. Now given the fuss that HTC has made regarding the Ultrapixel technology that debuted with the HTC One M7, it’s interesting to see HTC make its way back to the megapixel race.
However HTC has typically kept its Ultrapixel technology to its flagship smartphones so it is possible that the M8_EYE could be a mid-range handset – either that or HTC could be rethinking their strategy and just giving consumers what they want – more megapixels. LlabTooFeR’s tweet is also in line with an earlier tweet by @upleaks, thus corroborating the rumors we’ve heard so far.
HTC will be hosting an event on the 8th of October which they are calling Double Exposure. Given the rumored “Duo” camera setup, the name of the event could be alluding to the HTC M8_EYE. Or it could also be referring to the fact that HTC will be announcing both the M8_EYE and the company’s action camera which has been tentatively given the name “RE Camera”.
