10 Million iPhone 6 And 6 Plus Units Sold During Launch Weekend

Could Apple’s new iPhones have finally given iPhone fans and users what they’ve always wanted, such as larger batteries and huge displays? While we can’t be 100% sure if the new iPhones are truly what every iPhone user has been waiting for, the numbers don’t lie because it looks like Apple has managed to sell a whopping 10 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus units over its launch weekend.

This has managed to beat out last year’s figure of 9 million units of iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c sold during their launch weekend. According to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, “Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn’t be happier. We would like to thank all of our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previous sell-through records by a large margin.”

The amount of phones sold is certainly reflected in the wait times for customers who might have failed to pre-order the new phones in a timely manner or who weren’t able to get their phones during the release itself. As it stands, estimated shipping time for the iPhone 6 is around 7-10 days, while the iPhone 6 Plus is sitting at 3-4 weeks.

The new iPhones have also not been released in all of Apple’s markets yet, so we can only imagine that those figures will be much higher once they start making their way to other markets around the world. In the meantime anyone else surprised that the new iPhones managed to shatter last year’s record?
