Reddit bills itself as “the front page of the internet,” and there’s no doubting its massive global user base. Reddit users will be glad to hear today that a dedicated application has been released for the Xbox One, allowing them to use it through their console. Not only will users be able to browse content, they will be able to submit their own likes as well as upvote and downvote content from the Xbox One.
Xbox’s Larry Hyrb, better known as Major Nelson, says that the ReddX app is the first that has been exclusively developed for a gaming console. Alternatives like Reeddit already exist to make it easier for users to browse the site using a gaming controller, but ReddX would provide the best possible user experience. ReddX will be available for Xbox One consoles in North America starting today.
In the app topics that are on Reddit’s front page will appear on the left hand side. YouTube videos, images and GIFs will load automatically on the right. Interestingly users will be able to play, pause, rewind and fast forward GIFs, which are an integral part of the entire Reddit experience. Kinect supports means that users will be able to upvote and downvote content by simply speaking out loud.
Reddit users will certainly want to take the app for a spin, it has been released for Xbox One as of today, August 19th.
