What this means is that the game has lost about 800,000 active subscribers where we last checked, it was sitting at around 7.6 million. This is despite the fact that the game saw a brief increase in subscriptions, but we guess whatever it was wasn’t good enough to keep gamers around.
However we guess this is to be expected. We’re sure many gamers out there have long completed the raids and content that was released with the previous Mists of Pandaria expansion, meaning that there really is no reason to continue their subscription since there isn’t much left for them to do.
Then again Warlords of Draenor will be released in the near future and its street date is expected to be announced on the 14th of August, so perhaps when that expansion is released, World of Warcraft’s subscription base will see an increase again. However like we said given that the game is so old, it is not surprising that gamers would much rather flock to newer games like Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn or WildStar, but what do you guys think? Will Warlords of Draenor help reignite the flames?
