It can get rather frustrating when you are driving along to the instructions given by your GPS navigation system only to find out that the route presented has led to a dead end because the maps stored on the GPS unit is outdated. Well, Nokia has decided that its HERE brand will not cause such headaches for users in the future, having updated HERE Maps on Windows Phone in order to deliver fresher maps, not to mention a slew of improvements and additions.
Do expect Nokia HERE maps to deliver a whole lot more comprehensive maps when it comes to smaller countries from now on, especially where street level coverage is concerned. Not only that, relevancy is also enhanced, where taking the island of Mauritius for example – all of its coastal detail has been enhanced.
In addition to that, some of the “more-established cities” as Nokia describes will see the inclusion of select 3D landmarks, which would make it a whole lot easier for you to make use of visual cues in order to find out that you are going in the right direction. Apart from that, Nokia claims that the latest version of HERE Maps on Windows Phone will deliver improved texture quality whenever in concerns famous landmarks.
Point address rendering has also been thrown into the mix, where the following countries will be able to experience it: The Baltics, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa and Ukraine.
