One of the mid-range tablets in Verizon’s lineup has received a much needed software update. The LG G Pad 8.3 Android 4.4 KitKat update has been released, bringing all the bells and whistles that we have come to expect from the update. Its version Android 4.4.2 to be precise, even though the carrier took its sweet time in finalizing this update for the tablet, users will no doubt be glad that it has finally made the way to their tablets.

Apart from the customizations that LG has made to the software some of Google’s user interface tweaks are also visible, look no further than the white signal bars and battery indicator. Print services, multi-user access and an all new immersive mode are also included in the Android 4.4 update for the LG G Pad 8.3 on Verizon.

LG’s infamous Knock Code feature also makes its way to the tablet through this update. Its a replacement for the conventional lock screen which allows users to unlock a device by tapping a pre-determined pattern on the display without having to turn it on. The feature is already available in most of LG’s smartphones.

The Android 4.4 update for Verizon LG G Pad 8.3 also contains a handful of bug fixes and performance improvements. Verizon is rolling it out in phases, as always, so a bit of waiting might be involved before the update lands on your tablet.
