Foursquare certainly raised eyebrows in the industry when they made an announcement concerning the new check-in-centric app known as Swarm earlier this year in May, citing that both Android and iOS versions will roll out first, before a Windows Phone app makes its way to the market shortly afterwards. Well, it is now the middle of August, and all of that patient waiting has paid off, as those of you out there who have been rocking to Windows Phone-powered smartphones will be able to make use of Swarm for Windows Phone.
In a nutshell, Swarm for Windows Phone has arrived on the Windows Phone Store, where it will not be lacking in any way where features are concerned compared to its Android and iOS versions. Users will find that they are capable of checking into a venue quickly, while adding a sticker to the check-in, posting up plans for nearby friends in order to have them check out and view their nearby friends’ locations. This particular app will place nice with Windows Phone 8.1 devices, and it is a pretty small download at just 4MB.
At least the Windows Phone is slowly but surely bridging the gap with Android and iOS when it comes to the number of useful and mainstream apps. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it will also be updated regularly. [Press Release]
