This is followed by Android at 32.6% and interestingly enough, it seems that at least out of the 1,000 people surveyed, 6.8% of them have plans to buy a BlackBerry handset, putting them ahead of Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform which comes in fourth at 5.3%. Now the survey results also lists the Amazon Fire Phone with falls behind Windows Phone at a mere 5%.
While the Fire Phone does run on Android, it is a forked version of Android meaning that it will look nothing like the version of Android that OEMs typically adopt. We’ve seen this happen with the Nokia X series of Android devices as well as Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX tablet, so we guess it might be different enough to warrant a category of its own.
That being said, it certainly doesn’t look too encouraging for Amazon as only 5% of the people surveyed had expressed interest in the phone. It’s a bit odd given that the features of the phone are pretty impressive, but perhaps the forked version of Android threw some customers off, but what do you guys think? Would you purchase a Fire Phone?
