When both the PS4 and Xbox One were initially unveiled last year and people started asking which console was better, anyone who prefered more multimedia and applications would be pointed towards Microsoft’s console while those seeking purely gaming and nothing else would be suggested the Sony console. PS4 owners would know that there is a shortage of streaming and media applications on the console and it looks like Sony is trying to bridge the gap to some extent. A new job listing reveals that the company might be building up a new streaming application for both PS4 and PS3.
The job listing posted by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe seeks a web developer in a role that would involve the implementation of a JavaScript front-end user interface for a video streaming app on PS3 and PS4.
The team will be made up of JavaScript and C/C++ engineers and they will be tasked with implementing this web-based Application UI to the specification outlined using SCEE’s own framework.
Unfortunately the listing doesn’t offer any major details about the app and its purpose or when we can expect it to hit our consoles. All that is known right now is that it will be compatible with both the previous and the next generation console.
