Over the past couple of days, we have been hearing rumors about a Sony selfie camera and a device called the Sony KW1. Well it turns out that both were the same product which has since been officially announced as the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-KW11. It looks like the earlier leaked photos were correct as the camera looks pretty unique.
The camera appears to be shaped like a perfume bottle and based on how Sony has marketed it, it seems to be targeted towards women and those who love taking selfies and would prefer if they had a more “fashionable” camera, as opposed to the more somber looking black digital cameras.
The Sony KW11 will feature a 19.2MP 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS CMOS sensor. Earlier rumors have suggested that the sensor in the KW11 could be of the curved variety, although Sony has not made any mention of that in the press release. The camera will sport a 21mm f/2 lens that can be swiveled 180-degrees which according to Sony, will give “the illusion of a slender body and a slimmer face for convenient and easy selfie shots.”
The camera will also come equipped with a 3.3 Type OLED display and will feature a bunch of different effects to help enhance your photos. The Sony KW11 is expected to go on sale in the Asia Pacific region come this October and will be available in white, pink, green, and violet, although no mention of how much it will cost yet.
