When it comes to the world of curved TVs, this particular market is far from being mature, as the major players are just starting to step into the fray with Samsung and their 55” offering that we took a look at last August, alongside LG and their monstrous EC9800, although both manufacturers have already released larger models ever since. Having said that, Sony does not want to lose out on this particular market, and their initial attempt at curved TVs would arrive in 65” and 75” sizes under the Bravia S90 series, where they will also both be accompanied by a new 4.2-channel multi-angle live speaker system.
Known as the Sony Bravia S90 series, those who give it a go will find that either purchase will deliver 4K Ultra HD resolution. It is said that the features and specifications will remain similar to the KD-65X9005B flat 4K TV, as they will both fall back upon Sony’s very own 4K X-Reality PRO picture engine, Triluminos color technology and Motionflow XR800Hz, although there will be the introduction of a curve alongside the aforementioned 4.2 channel speaker system.
Apart from that, Sony has mentioned that their new Multi-angle Live Speaker System would pave the way for uncompromised 360-degree surround sound. Hopefully it works as advertised. Pricing and availability details remain to be determined as at press time, but both models are widely tipped to be announced officially at IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany, that is happening next month.
