Samsung Sets Sights On Low-End Tizen Handsets

Do you think that Samsung might have actually overstretched themselves when it comes to rolling out new smartphones that will cater to just about every single user group or budget? Apparently, the Tizen-powered handset that saw 17 different SKUs just a couple of months ago, has been delayed yet again as we found out late last month. Perhaps it is not a good idea to work on a high end Tizen handset, which could be why it seems that the Samsung Z handset will be sent back to the drawing board, only to be reworked as a lower end model.

It makes sense of course, considering how Samsung already commands a large chunk of the high end smartphone market with their flagship Galaxy and Galaxy Note devices, so to roll out a Samsung-branded Tizen-powered phone in the same niche might prove to be damaging in the long run. Instead, it seems that the Samsung SM2130H, a dual SIM phone that runs on Tizen, might be a better bet when it comes to seeing the light of day as Samsung dukes it out with other low-cost vendors such as Xiaomi and Micromax.

All in all, we do hope to find out more at the Tizen developer events that will be held by Samsung later this October in Shanghai and November in San Francisco.
