Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes was released back in March where it quickly went on to prove to be a pretty popular game, with about 1 million copies shipped in a month since it was released. Now the game is available across multiple platforms, such as the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and the Xbox One, but it seems that despite that, the game has proven to be a popular title for the Sony PlayStation 4.
This is according to Konami who revealed that the PS4 version of the game managed to sell three times more copies compared to the Xbox One version. Konami did not share any specific numbers and according to Konami’s latest financial report, it would seem that Ground Zeroes accounted for 16% of the company’s total software sales, which is admittedly pretty impressive.
So why is the PS4 version of the game doing better? After all it’s not like there are exclusive features, right? Well if we had to venture a guess, the difference in graphics quality could be a pull factor. Earlier it was revealed that the Xbox One version of the game only ran at 720p @ 60fps, while the PS4 version was 1080p @ 60fps.
We guess the difference between HD and Full HD was enough to convince gamers to get the PS4 version of the game. However this could also be a “chicken and the egg” situation where given that the PS4 is selling more than the Xbox One, perhaps gamers who already had the PS4 naturally went with the PS4 version of the game, but what do you guys think?
